Since we are talking about home movies here, which tend to be less-than-Spielberg quality anyway (no offense intended to the original poster), why not go a much cheaper route and make VideoCDs. VideoCDs play in most, if not all, modern DVD players, as well as regular computer CD-ROMs. You would just need a super fast SCSI setup for the capture, capure/editing software by Strata or Avid or even iMovie, software to encode the DV or QT streams into MPEG-1, and a regular CD burner with Toast (which I hear makes VCDs very nicely). This is something I'm looking to do with lots of my old films and tapes, but can someone recommend a good MPEG-1 encoder? I keep reading on various web sites that QuickTime Pro encodes MPEG-1 but I don't think that's accurate. -- --Chris PM 7500/604e 200Mhz 4 gig SCSI 256 megs OS 8.6 (This machine rocks!) -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
