Not wanting to foresake this list altogether but you sound like you
need a real G3 system. See how cheap you can get a 300MHz G3 Tower
and OS X and maybe a Radeon PCI card. Or if you have a a good wad off
moola (about $550 - $600) for long term investment in an new Mac get
a new world machine, a B&W G3 (pref. 450MHz) or a G4 Sawtooth
(400-550MHz). I know it is cheaper to get a 9x00 and PCI/CPU upgrade
cards (o is it - in the long run I say no) but OS X is getting to be
the standard Mac system now (although even by the end of 2003 Apple
still thinks a large percentage of people will still be using Classic
in one form or another) and the need to upgrade for it is ever
present. You can do OS X easily on a 6-slot 9x00 now but what about
10.2, what about 10.5 and beyond. Eventually it'll stop being
possible. That time will come much later if you have new world
hardware.
