Gentle Macinese. There has been a lot of debate and pondering on my behalf of just how we can cheaply use ATA drives in our Venerable macs. After research and all, I came up with the solution. NO, you wont get the LIGHTENING FAST SPEED of ATA 133 with this solution, but it gives us an oppurtunity to have STORAGE after all. What I have done is I found a QUE 1394 FIREWIRE PCI card and a 70 dollar FIREWIRE storage device and a 70 dollar 40 gig ATA DRIVE and WHAM, She works Beutifully! I intend to even try an INTERNAL IDE CD BURNER next. It should work! I need the houseing and the device itself comes with another port....for 70 dollars and I have a burner just itching to try this....Why not! I will let you know next pay day. Keep in mind, I just spent 150 dollars for ATA 100 HD and a device and card. I now have 40 gigs of storage that I can turn around and use in one of my REGULAR Winders PCS. ( I INITIALIZED it in DOSXXX ). After all, One must have room for his MP3s!!!!!! OK, Thanks for letting me rave. Have a great holiday everyone.
