I belive I mentioned FireWire in my list of three alternatives, or 
did no-one read that?

Also, with an Oxford 911 bridge chip in the case and an ATA/100 
7200rpm drive you can get sufficient speed out of FireWire on most 
FireWire native  machines to do DV work. I dunno wether this is true 
with PCI Cards in PCI pre-G3 PowerMacs.....
