I have a drive like that. It's an old full height drive and it takes a while
to spin up to running speed. If I hit the power button, then do the re-start
key sequence after about 5 seconds, then it will mount. Or, I just use a
disk mounting utility like Mt. Everything and mount the drive after the
start.
