I had same thing with USB card and Wacam graphics tablet. Wacam's web site said USB had to be built in. When I called and questioned them on that, they said it probably would work with a PCI card, but because there are so many different card manufacturers with different standards, they were just protecting themselves by saying it needed native USB. Works fine with PCI card and also with powered hub. This is not to guarantee that this is true of every peripheral that says native USB or Firewire.
