Hi Vern,

Used TechTool to do various checks, then Wiped Unused Space, then
TechTool did its suggested restart thing and all is well with the Menus -
haven't a clue what got fixed though.

My Real Player (fortunately I had kept the installer) is only 6.0.9!
This time I selected absolutely none of the raft of setup options
(especially avoiding the automatic web-type updates and connections)
in the hope off minimizing trouble.

-9500 on OS 8.6 with 416MB (lucked out - it came loaded!)
