Hi: I am a digital camera repairman. Some very good digital cameras, come with software for Windows, but unfortunately nothing for Mac. But I use a PNY dual flash card reader. It will read the CompactFlash, SmartMedia, and the IBM CF harddrives. Plugs into the USB port, and only needs a small extension to operate. Mounts as a PC drive on the desktop. It is easier to use, just leave it plugged in all of the time, no need to plug in your camera. Also downloading the pictures using the camera, drains your camera's batteries, or you must use an AC adapter. Costs about the same as an AC adapter. There is also one from Imation which we use at our shop, that reads SmartMedia, CF, CFHD, Sony Memorystick, and the new small Multimedia card.
