Well, if the mac and the HP are connected via a network, and the
JetDirect is in it's default state, just connect via the Chooser; the
printer should show up if you select Laserwriter.

You'll need to scrounge up the Mac Printer Descriptions for the printer
to use all of the printer features, but those are downloadable from HP.

If the Jetdirect is not in it's default state, things are a bit more
complex, but not impossible.

Do a full self-test from the 5N, it should print out all the LIO
settings for the card; one of the headings is Appletalk.

If it's off, you may be able to turn it on from the front panel (my only
experience with a 5 model is the 5si, and everything's configurable from
the front panel there.

Since you have a PC, too, you can run HP's JetDirect utility to set
everything up as well.

Contact me if you have specific problems. I deal with these things all
the time; we have about 25 jetdirects on our network. The single port
ones are pretty much bulletproof, the external 3-port ones are a
complete PITA.
