I don't know about the HP LaserJet 5N, but I use to use a HP LaserJet MP5. The MP5 model was a M5 model with an added ROM-SIMM which added Postscript and Appletalk support. It had two parallel ports, a single Mac serial port on the back and an IrDA port on the front. It was a great printer, BUT it couldn't take the JetDirect cards. It was designed to use one of the external printer servers. With that said, I found a ton of info about my (and your) HP printer at http://www.hp.com, and part and accessories at http://www.printerworks.com As for your LaserJet 5N, it should have he 9-pin serial port, one parallel port, one Serial infrared port (which maybe IrDA), and one HP Jetdirect card with Ethernet (J2550B). However, I believe you need the Jetdirect card with Ethernet/LocalTalk (J2552B) , and the "PostScript Level 2" ROM-SIMM, which will convert your HP into a LaserJet 5M . The ROM-SIMM plugs into one of the four SIMM slots, limiting memory expansion to 3 SIMMs. - Ron. -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
