I "acquired" a bunch of S 2500s recently as well. The neat thing was that when you have more than one, you can try a known good one compared to the one you testing. When it came to the bunch I had, I tossed them if they did not print right. Some of them ground to a stop, while others ground to a start. I found one with color cartridge setup while all the rest had the black ink in them. I simply couldn't get the color cartridge one to work. I refilled them and ran the cleaning thing over and over. Now, here is the scary part. You buy the new "Whole Color" cartridge as compared to just the individual cartridges, and what if the darn thing doesn't work. Mine ended up costing 51 dollars. Here is where prayer belongs, though, it has seldom worked for me. Ended up, the new cartridge worked gloriously. So, ... getting used printers can be quite scarry. I lost 100 on the swap list buying a computer that they guy guaranteed it would work. Well, ... even after new cartridges, I was wasting my time and money, so that hundred dollar Epson sets in my bedroom to remind me that you are messing with probability when you are buying sight unseen, and action unseen an old computer.
