I trust you added cards one after the other and re-started successfully each time. I often use contact cleaner for cards that won't, resetting the PRAM each time.. But I want to check that and the >only other power supply that I have that is close is a >Power Computing TCX-20D. What do I have to check for to >see if I can use this power supply to check for a chime >without frying anything (else)? > Power supplies are model specific so that Power Computing's PS may be a rewired PC PS and may not be exactly pin-compatible with 8500s. Someone posted at XLR8yourmac.com how he transferred an 8500 board to a PC ATX housing and gave a chart on transposing its wiring to be compatible with the 8500's. Try re-setting the motherboard and see what happens. Oh, 8100 PS are not compatible with higher demand 8500s - they conk out sooner..
