I run a Newer G3 in my 9600 with OS 9.2.2 installed, so their software does work with OS 9. The last version of the CP was 2.0.5 which is available <http://www.versiontracker.com/moreinfo.fcgi?id=3142&db=mac> and if you can't track it down e-mail me and I'll send it to you. As to the too fast message, your card should have two number associated with it, the CPU speed and cache speeed, both in Mhz. I'd suggest installing the latest version of the software, trashing the preferences file for it and re-booting with extensions off. Then set the cache speed as appropriate for your card and see what happens.
