I'm not sure.  I once had Norton tell me I had crosslinked files.  It 
identified the two files and told me to delete them which I did.  I 
don't recall if simply deleting them fixed the problem or if I Norton 
then cleaned them up.  Does it offer to fix the problem?  Normally 
Norton either fixes the problem or tells you what to do.
