childish, it's moronic. And petty. A perfect example of
this trivial mindset is that cranky old wanker William
Safire in the New York Sunday Times Magazine. Having
spent years as a professional editor and proofreader
and I have watched the best minds of my generation
deteriorate into cultish grammarians. It's over.
Language is alive and unpredictable and the internet
will change it far more and faster than ever before.
People who insist on dead rules are like evil children
who keep bugs in bottles . . .
