I had a similar problem when I installed a 7500 board in to a 7200 case. I could not
get any sound other than the "chime" when I turned it on. Finally after I initialized
the HD and reinstalled OS 8.5 it started to work again. Don't know if it will help
you. Just a thought. Good luck.
