I looked at the documation for pdisk. It apparently can't create HFS or HFS+ 
partitions.

I just downloaded it (the MacOS version)anyway and used it to look at my partition 
map. The version of pdisk that I managed to download, though, is rather old: "version 
0.7a4 (18 February 1998)". Is there a later version available?

Is there anything I need to do to avoid possible damage to those partitions that are 
already in use as HFS+ volumes?
