Silverlining is about the worst disk formatting utility known to man.  The
problems you describe do not even phase me.  FWB is just a hair better.  If
you want a good disk utility get "Hard Disk Speed Tools" by Intech USA.  IT
will take over almost any drive or partition that you are having a problem
with.
