I need to create an HFS+ partition out of free space in order to install OS X on it, so I con't see how I can do it using OS X. OTOH, I could try to install it on one of my existing HFS+ partitions, if the requirement to have OS X in the first 8 GB of the disk doesn't hold for my PTP with Sonnet G3/450 and Tempo ATA66.
I'm still annoyed by the apparent impossibility of creating a new MacOS volume out of free space with Silverlining Pro -- something I used to be able to do with FWB Hard Disk Toolkit. I'm going to play around with pdisk on a disk that doesn't matter too much. If that works out OK, and if nothing better turns up, I'll try using it for the real thing. BTW, I've already examined the disk's partition map with pdisk and know the number, location and length of the free-space partition I want to convert to HFS+. (I'm not hesitant to use pdisk as long as I'm not changing anything.) - Aaron P.S. to Dana: Previous posts to this thread should be in the archive, but I can send them to you if you like. >To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> (PCI PowerMacs) >From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >Date: 08 Oct 2002 23:57:26 -0600 [SNIP] >I missed the beginning of the thread, so I might not understand.
