(other than more ports which I don't see any need for, since you can chain= many devices together). The PowerLogix doesn't say if it's v1.1 or v2.0,= but should I even want USB 2.0? Can USB2 be used with Macs running OS9.1?= (incidentally the new FW HD also has a USB 2.0 port. >> This has been reported before - the chipset on some Firewire cards present problems for PCI macs. What I've learned is to look for TI or Lucent chips and avoid NEC's. OWC sells a simple Lucent two port card that has performed much more reliably than the Western Digital or OM cards (both using NEC chipsets) that we have used. It may be that some WD or OM cards do not have these problems, but we have not used them. There is an older video site on the web that lists the chipset for a variety of different Mac and PC firewire cards. We've found combination USB/FW cards a little more prone to large file transfer errors, so I use a separate card for USB. If you are using USB for hard drives or CDRWs or other high speed devices, you should look for 2.0. SL -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
