Thanks to everyone who made suggestions. TattleTech solved the problem; it indeed confirmed that there was a FireWire bus and even presented the slot and ID, which match up with the "USB 0" and "SCSI 2" (IDE) on the card. Seems like it all checks out.
So far I've been very pleased with the card, especially the IDE throughput. No video stuttering, and very fast launches and boots.
