For OS 8 x you should use Norton 4.0 disk doctor 3.x can corrupt the disk enourmously in that case , files disappearing and freezes during disk doktor check, stick with 4.0 or as said before Diskwarrior. Another way of defragging is copying all material between to disk or partitions and erasing the one you copyd from and copy the material back.
