I actually have never been comfortable with Sonnet products...was always a
Newertech man myself. This is the first card that I have had absolutely no
problems with from them. Being able to run OS 9.2.2 now with the G4 is
definitely faster than with OS 9.1 and also having an ATI 7000 video card to
enable Quartz Extreme graphics on OS 10.2.2 with this G4 is a definite plus.
Although I often wonder if I'm just squeezing every last mhz I can out of
this machine in order to justify its' existence rather than breaking down
and just buying a new machine with a faster bus.

I love it...it definitely feels faster as I upgraded from a Newertech G3/500
mhz card (which was no slouch) and if you watch the price, I got the G4/800
for around $370. I expect the price could drop even lower in January, our
traditional "bargains" month after Christmas.

IF you do not want to get rid of your machine and want the speed increase,
it's worth it. If you are on the fence about whether to get this card or to
upgrade to a newer, faster Macintosh...do some more research.

I have found that sticking with name brands and not getting "too" freaky has
caused the least amount of problems in OS 9 AND OS X. Quick breakdown, it's
a Powermac 7600 with the Sonnet G4/800 mhz processor, 1 gig of quality ram,
2 Fujitsu 36gig 15k SCSI drives hooked up to an Adaptec 29160N SCSI card, an
ATI Radeon 7000 graphics card and an Adaptec Firewire card for an external
80 gig Maxtor drive for backups. Also externally I have a Yamaha 2100 CDRW
hooked up to the SCSI card and an external Zip drive and a HP scanner hooked
up to the external on board SCSI. No USB, although tempting, it seems that
if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

I'm getting speed tests faster than a brand new G4/800 and the transfer
rates are phenomenal!
