Apple Profiler will only name cards for which it has a driver. It will however list the "card name" which is of the form "pcixxxx,yyyy". pcixxxx is the code for the manufacturer of the chipset unless there is custom code from the board maker. No need to turn off the built in NIC. In Open Transport (AppleTalk or TCP/IP control panels) you select which NIC you want to use.
