Today I was able to get hold of an Apple OEM Fast Ethernet PCI card, a DEC-based card that shipped as a BTO option with the beige G3 series. Best of all, the thing works in true Mac style - without any drivers! Plugged in and immediately Apple System Profiler, and the AppleTalk and TCP/IP Control Panels are on top of things. Lovely. Best of all, 100BaseT is soooooo much faster... simple 2-3Mb transfers between the 9600 and my PC that used to take 10-15 seconds fly by faster than the video card can draw the File Transfer dialog box up on screen. All for a mere AU$25... well worth the dosh for those wrestling their beige PowerMacs into the 21st century. Cheers, Ben. (PS. Anyone in Melbourne, Australia who wants to know where to get them from, email me.) -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
