Well it took about 2.5 hours but it did work, a lot faster than the original ram, all I need is more RAM in this machine.

Also what exactly are these "drivers" is it sort of >like the boot sector on a windows pc? > My Performa 6320's ROM would only recognize drives no larger than 4 GB so to get a 9-10 gig drive mounted I've had to partition the drive into 2 equal halves. If I am not mistaken your 5500 may have the same limitation. Restarting may cause the drive not to be recognized so you'll need a third party utility like FWB's Hard Dist Toolkit to mount the drive. If that doesn't do it mount it to your PC, FDISK it and and format it, enabling large disk support.
