Since I don't know, I only suggest: Maybe it would depend on the portion fried?

 You said you upgraded the cpu, would you still happen to have the
 original cpu to test out?
I don't recall that, but no, I didn't.

BTW, anyone have a tech manual? All I can find is owners manuals (well, surprise!) =-)
