Paul,

You'll need a pinout of the power supply connector and a multimeter to 
test the line voltages. Or if you have access to a known good 8500 
supply. Or--but first confirm this with someone else--the power supply 
from a 7200/7500/7600 has the same connector and for test purposes will 
work. It's only 150W as opposed to the 8500's 250+?, so disconnect any 
extra drives beforehand.
