I have not tried to put a cdrw drive on my controller, but I've heard of
others doing so without problems.

As for the stuttering audio, Sonnet's site mentions it, and basically,
boxes with slower cpus (mainly 601's) can't keep up with the card when
playing audio from the hard disk.  CD drives are not as fast as hard
drives, and don't have this problem.  Sonnet's software fix actually slows
something down so the cpu can keep up.  CD drive functions should be
normal in any case.
