Thanks for all the suggestions so far.

I opened the PM6500 and blew out the dust bunnies and took a look 
around. [In front too, I removed the front cover and snooped around. :-)

I don't think the noise is coming from the motherboard fan or the hard 
drive.....I think [based on the positions and where the sound is coming 
from].....I think  it's the fan in the power supply.

The tower itself is cold to the touch. Some blown air is coming out the 
back of the tower.  The buzzing goes for awhile and then quits for awhile, clearing
what dust bunnies I could did not change anything.

Using applications or CD /floppy/zip dirves did not change the sound ...
sometimes it buzzes and sometime it sputter buzzes.

If it is the fan on the power supply...what to do....I think that part is located on
the right side looking from the back...I did see a couple screws holding the back
plate on for that section ...but also a electric hazzard sign... :-)
