The grand opening at the Woodfield, Illinois store was like that. While waiting in line, I was talking to the mall security people. They said the only other time there was a crowd like this was when Michael Jordan was there to shill for something. Not bad for a computer company with less that 5% of the market. The camaraderie was truly amazing. Didn't hurt that I was mistaken for a local radio personality and had people asking for autographs, either. Even the MacWorld guy that was there offered to come to the studio to help with my network problems. Apparently Steve Dahl is a Mac user and talks about it when he's on the air.
