I have a bunch of upgraded to various degrees 7600s and older >PPCs/68xxx Macs, but my 8600/G3-350 (even though some of my 7600s are >running faster G3 cards.) is my primary work station. When the price comes >down on the G4/800 (or faster), one will go into my 8600. Even at its >"slow" G3 speed, I can do iMovie projects with no problems. The 8600 is to >the current Macs what the old 840 AV (yep, I had one of those too.) was to >the pre-PCI PPCs. packed full of features, very reliable and although slower >than "state of the art" Macs, still capable of doing the big jobs. What kind of capture performance can you get with the 8600 in terms of resolution and frames per second? Supposedly (I haven't tried it yet) one can get full screen 30 fps capture with the old NuBus Video Vision Studio and I'm wondering how the 8600 compares to that. I picked up a VVS system still shrink wrapped a couple of years ago for $50 and put it in an 8100/110 but have never actually used it (except as a glorified video card).
