It will work without drivers but you do not get the full benefit from it. OWC does have the necessary drivers for pre-OS 9 which work fine but If you are using OS 9.x, there are Apple ixMicro drivers you can get by doing a custom install to add. Those drivers at OWC from ixMicro do not work very well in OS 9.x. I had a lot of trouble with them till I discovered that they are already in OS 9. But it does not automatically install them, at least that has been my experience. Look under video and you will see 3 Apple ixMicro drivers. I remember somewhere reading that Apple had acquired ixMicro.
