I have a question for anyone who has an opinion ( and who doesnt!)

I have a 7300 with a Powerlogix G3 350/175 upgrade and 273 megs of RAM. It
has two 1 gig internal drives, a 4 gig SCSI and a Zip 100. I not sure if I
want to keep upgrading it. I'm considering maxing out the RAM to 1 gig and
adding a video card with a IDE controller and a huge hard drive. According
to the Powerlogix manual, the bus speed of the computer (which was/is
approximately 47 mhz) is now irrelevant since I have the G3 card. Is this
True?
Hi.

It depends since the bus speed is set by the processor card. 50Mhz is the safe maximum though some boards can run stable at higher speeds (my 9600 is stable to 53MHz). Some upgrade cards will run the bus lower than 50Mhz. A utility like Gauge Pro or Tattletech (both free downloads) will tell you what your's is running at (probably 50MHz).

My dad thinks I should get a 8600/9600 since that has 3 extra PCI
slots and a easy to open case.
Both share the same great case, but it's the 9600 that has 6 PCI slots. The 9500 also has 6 slots but the case is a dog.

However, for almost the same price I could
get a B&W G3 around 350 mhz.
Stock, the 8600 or 9600 should be significantly less, though after all the upgrades you need to get them up to speed the price is probably about the same or more. I like my 9600 a lot but if I bought another Mac I would get at least a Rev. B Beige G3, or better yet an AGP machine.

I've heard that the B&W has a 100 mhz bus
speed. Would I see a big speed increase? Will I be able to attach my 4 gig
SCSI drive to the G3 without having to use a controller?

I'm not very familar with the B&W but I believe it only has IDE on the logic board.
