Just about any upgrade involves removing the orignial board and replacing 
it, thus negating the memory limitation. One of the more extreme hacks 
involves hacking in a Q630 style edge connector and attaching a x200/x300 
board or x500 board, thereby essentially getting a 6500 with all the 
benefits and pluses (and limitations) in a compact Mac using the original 
screen. You can then put a L2 G3 cache in there. THen there are people who 
really remove everything and put in an LCD and G4 cube board or the like, 
though that's not quite the same. The PPCed Color Classic (known as a 
Takky) still looks just like a stock CC on the outside. It's not until you 
get it booted and see that 8.6 or 9.1 screen that something doesn't click ;)
