If the install CD was packaged for a PMac it should work.  The ones 
label G3 may work and I don't know about the G4.  I do know the the ones 
labeled for iMac either will not install or if they do it is a flaky 
install and may or may not boot or run stable.  After you do the install 
use the 'Software Update' control panel.
