No. Flat out no way. There is NO Mac virus that will do this, none, none at all. Ever. Nyet! NON! Made myself clear? There are, essentially, NO Mac viruses in the wild today. Unless you trade MS Word documents with people, Mac antivirus software is an utter and complete waste of money, and the vendors selling such should really be indicted for consumer fraud by saying you need protection. It's like selling life vests to ducks, or bicycles to fish. Your duplicate messages are likely due to your e-mail program a) Not being set to delete POP mail when you download it, or b) It's mail indexes being screwed up. If you use Netscape, for your e-mail, look in your mail folders for .snm files. Those are the index files Netscape uses to keep track of the messages in your mail files. There will be one for each mail folder you have, eg: you will see Inbox and Inbox.snm in your mail folders. Deleting the .snm file forces Netscape to re-index the mail folder. DO NOT DELETE THE FILE WITHOUT THE .SNM EXTENSION!!!! That is your e-mail. This could also be the cause of duplicate messages, if Netscape isn't properly marking them as downloaded, they won't delete from the server and they will get downloaded again. As for the attachments you're trying so hard to open, are you sure they're not PC viruses? Do they end in .pif, or .exe perchance? > -- "Wherever you go, there you are." - B.
