I bought a similar drive in October and had the same symptoms. It is a WDE9150 80-pin with an 80-to-50 adapter in my 7500. I set the scsi ID on the drive (ID=4), not on the adapter. Then I set two jumpers on the adapter board, one for DTIS/WN on pins 21 and 22, then the other jumper for SCSI Termination on pins 23 and 24. Works like a champ!
