7.5 was the last OS that would run on any 68K system higher than a Mac 
Plus; 7.6 excluded, iirc, 68000's, and  8.1 was the last OS that would 
run on 68040's. (which it does rather nicely, I must add...I'm very 
happy running that on my Powerbook 540C.)
