Hi,
you can change the bus system crystal with a more powerful one. The best
is to  first replace the the soldered crystal with a crystal connector.
It's a security so that you can come back to the initial value in case
of failure. Then, try several faster crystals.
You can find all this on the Output Enablers site. 
But check that they will work with a 9600 (I did that with a 6400 that
allowed 45 MHz bus speed an a extension overclocked Sonnet G3/300
running at 360 MHz with no problems).
Another thing to consider is to set the processor multiplier higher.
This is done by soldering - desoldering a few resistors. See Ed Nye site
for more details.
