Hi there.
I have just obtained a pair of PPC 7500/100s and have been busily researching
them for a week or so, downloading manuals, service books and reading mail
digests. However, a lot of what I've read seems to contradict either itself
or the results that I actually get when testing anything, so I thought perhaps
I could ask the experts. Please, can anyone definitively tell me:
1. Can a 7500/100 boot from a CD - everything I've read implies yes, but
neither of mine will boot from Mandrake or Debian linux CDs, or my (original)
Apple O/S 8 CD no matter how much I hammer "C" during startup.
2. Do any keys do anything whilst booting - nothing I hit at all during
boot does a thing. Is there no way to interrupt the boot or access a PC
stlye BIOS / Sun style Open Boot prompt?
3. I also have access at work to a load of defunct Quadras - are any of
the parts (except HDD, of course) compatible with my 7500s? Particularly,
I'd like to swipe all the RAM / VRAM if it'll work in the 7500.
Apologies for my massive ignorance, I'd just really like to hear some reliable
information from anyone who has experience.
Thanks for any help!
