Then wait a year and see what kind of used systems are available. To put it bluntly, your OS X performance would be pretty slow. You'd want to upgrade the video card to at least 16mb if not 32mb. A video card will let the system use the video RAM which is much faster than the motherboard RAM. Open windows in OS X will use a ton of RAM; you're talking at least 2-4 mb per window. Up your motherboard RAM to at least 512 mb. OWC has some SCSI HD's for fairly cheap around $100. You need AT LEAST 1.5 Gig of HD space to do a install of OS X. Here is my advice at this point. I have been perfectly happy running OS 9.2.2 on my 7300. I do some gaming, lots of internet surfing and some desktop publishing. Its very snappy, much more so than 9.1 . www.os9forever.com has a patch that allows it to run on non-original G3 or G4 systems. If you try to install it without the patch, you'll get an error message almost immediatley. You'll be at the absolute pinnacle of the Classic Macintosh OS. Best of luck!
