AOL is an all in one hobbled browser with built in access to AOL's proprietary 
databases through a control strip and menus. Most of the databases are based on 
commercial agreements with corporations you can access through the Web anyway. It is 
designed to be easier to set up for non technical types. It is around $24 a month 
also. 
My main problem with it is how slow the surfing is compared to a "real" browser and 
ISP.

< I must admit that I don't really know what AOL is even though I keep 
  getting the cd's through the post...I have five IP accounts just setup 
  with TCP/IP and Remote Access......what does AOL the application do?
