Apple, as a rule, hates to implement basic logic changes by cutting traces 
and adding discrete wires and/or components.

But, it has done so on the LaserWriter (non-Plus and Plus, all versions 
except the one which supports 1 MB ROMs), the PC Compatibility Card (all 
versions except the last), and on every PB5300 I have personally examined.
