If you're going to go to the trouble of opening the 8500 case, you'd 
want to STRONGLY consider a G3 or G4 upgrade card.  what kind of work 
do you plan on using the system for i.e, gaming, word processing, web 
surfing?  I replaced a 200mhz card in my 7500 a few months ago; what a 
difference! Virtually all apps fly open.  I found my Powerlogix 
Powerforce G3 card for $120 USD on ebay, very slightly used.  If you 
ever plan on running OS X, you'd be well advised to go with a G4 
upgrade and at least 512 mb RAM.  Hope this helps.
