If you're going to go to the trouble of opening the 8500 case, you'd want to STRONGLY consider a G3 or G4 upgrade card. what kind of work do you plan on using the system for i.e, gaming, word processing, web surfing? I replaced a 200mhz card in my 7500 a few months ago; what a difference! Virtually all apps fly open. I found my Powerlogix Powerforce G3 card for $120 USD on ebay, very slightly used. If you ever plan on running OS X, you'd be well advised to go with a G4 upgrade and at least 512 mb RAM. Hope this helps.
