Hi friends,

(he said on bended knee :-(
A friend gave me a good Micropolis 4 GB drive yesterday
to put into my 9500/200 along with my Seagate 2 GB.

I was pretty sure, based on a couple of websites, that the ID was 4
and so I gambled and installed the Micropolis without unplugging my existing drive -
big mistake as it seems I've jumbled the bus but good!

My Seagate was on the end of the ribbon cable and this new Micropolis above it.
The screen showed the question mark but then went a blank grey.
I got an OS 9 CD to boot and opened Drive Setup.
BOTH DRIVES WERE - ID '0' - but only the Micropolis was active.
The Seagate showed <NOT MOUNTED>.

I removed the Micropolis and tried just my main Seagate - twice the
computer started to boot and the drive light showed action and it spun,
but then froze on the OS 9.1 screen plate.

Tried a couple of pram Zaps and unplugged and pushed the CUDA for 5 secs too.
Couldn't boot from my Disk Warrior or TechTool Pro CD's - only from
my OS 9 CD.

A couple of failed CD boot attempts later (Seagate removed) I was prompted
by Drive Setup, that the disk (Micropolis) was unreadable and would I like to
initialize.
I chose O.K. but after waiting on the spinning beachball for two hours, during
what appeared to be the drive initialization, I shut the 9500 down and
"crashed" myself - with a very worried mind.

I have left it unplugged with the battery out for the last 9 hours.
I'm using the Centris 660AV for now.

Terry
