In your TCP/IP control panel is there an address assigned to your computer? usually 192.168.1.xxx. If not then the modem doesn't see the computer.
Open netscape and try to connect to the modem. type in the address supplied in the manual for the modem, usually 192.168.1.1 or something similar. Are there status lights on the modem? are the proper ones lit? I have a 9500 that loses its connection every once in a while. I have to connect to the router before it gets re-connected sometimes. It sounds like your system should work once the modem realizes the computer is there.
