Well, Kyle may not like it, but my Apple 7600 manual shows the power cord of 
the monitor plugged into the back of the computer as well as the signal 
cable. If it's goos enough for Apple, who makes the computer, it's good 
enough for me. That's where I got the idea to plug the monitor into the 
computer, in the first place. 3 machines and 8 years later, no problems. (Hi!

<< On this subject some time ago, Kyle Hanson stated rather emphatically 
that this should not be used for monitor power, but I don't think the 
exact reason was given, only that it can do damage eventually. Lot's 
of back and forth , but in the end I was convinced to not use this 
any more. You can probably find the thread in the archives.
