On this subject some time ago, Kyle Hanson stated rather emphatically 
that this should not be used for monitor power, but I don't think the 
exact reason was given, only that it can do damage eventually. Lot's 
of back and forth , but in the end I was convinced to not use this 
any more. You can probably find the thread in the archives.
