I don't think you can find that kind of information as far as SCSI and Apple. Part of that is that not all SCSI devices conform to the SCSI standards. However, I would suspect your problem is one more of jumpers and termination. I'm surprised that HP doesn't have that information online. Sometimes, as in the case of some refurbed drives I got from a Mac vendor, the numbers on the drive makers web site weren't anything like what was on the drive itself. Me and the vendor e-mailed back and forth, with me eventually returning the drive. I wanted to install OSX, and I couldn't install it. I believe nowdays that Intech's HD Speed Tools are probably a better choice as I see their name mentioned alot as a solution to certain SCSI HD & CD-Rom problems. Yeah, I tried that, but ebded up returning the drives. The only drives I couldn't get to work. *shrug*
Do you have the HP numbers off the drive, and any relevant knowledge about the drive? I might be able to give you a hand. STeve << How can I tell in advance whether a particular SCSI drive is supported by Apple HD SC or some third party formatter? Is there some site I can go to and enter a model number to get jumper configuration and firmware information on different drives? Or can I open up the support tables for the formatters? I have a pair of HP 2.1GB 50 pin SCSI drives here, and although they show up on the SCSI bus, I can't format them, with either HD SC or FWB HD Toolkit. And I can't find any reference material for them on the HP site. Clae. >> -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
